All of a sudden

All of a sudden I thought about sociology when I one of my friend was talking about what happen at menards on black friday. She said someone cutted in the check out line and that started a big comotion. This goes perfectly with the topic we're now covering in sociology which is collective behavior. Collective behavior is spontaneous, wild and unpredictable which also involve a large amount of people. referring to the situation that went down at menards, the participating structure here are these visicous group of people trying to hurry up and pay for their things and here comes this guy trying to cut in line. The social strain to this is everyone is pressured into being tough and selfish because being timid on black friday doesn't pay off, literally. Police officers would be considered inadequate controls because they wouldn't be able to control this mob of people, I would be terrified being a police officer on black friday. To wrap this up, collective behavior are one of those bazare things you find fascnating scared to be apar of.

When it goes off

When it goes off is a short story about two soccer rivalries, the Manchester United and the Tottenham fans. These rivalries had so mcuh anomosity towards each other and the only thing seperating them was an ordinariy road. An ordinary road which seperated the men from the boys and symbolizes power, law, and the daredevils. Both team was suppose to venture out cross the road and to basically, ''set it off. ''  This task was obviously to big for these soccer hooligans to handle. The growth spread of generalized beliefs is when everyone believed Sammy killed the man on the escalator. structural Conduciveness happen when people stood on the table because there were no rooms left. Precipitating factor is when all fans gathered together or the game itself. Inadequate social control occured when no police officer was present when the guy got killed. Mobilization of participants for actions is when everyone was egging the narrator on to speak his mind to the police officer when he got whipped.

Groups within a group

All of a sudden i saw sociology when i was at step practice. Well, let me first begin with the new hot topic in sociology. This new unit we're focusing on groups. everyone belongs to a group because people need other people. During step practice I thought on how there are groups within a group. For instance in step practice we work on our routine to prefect it. people perceive us as a group of individuals that work together and  share a common interest. Our role is to be the loudest, funkiest, creative, original step group there is. We also reference ourselves with the other team so we can see what they're doing and how they do their ''thing'' and try to come up with a better routine, that tops theirs. This is known as a secondary group where people share common interest and are goal oriented. Though we're a group, I find myself connecting and communicating with certain people on the team. This is common because we're all in a ''secondary group,'' which is more general but we connect and vibe more with certain people, which sociologically called primary group.

Life lesson for son

I think the three year old should wear whatever outfit he wants, afterall it is hallowen, otherwise the purpose of halloween is defeated. He should experiment with things without being judge because he's at that stage. He's not consciously aware of his choice of being a princess and taking on astributes of a princess. This is just what Mr.Deardrorff was stating, that boys don't have cultural permission to wear what they want. Why is it girls can dress up as male figures without being made fun of. This relates to how society has place certain characteristics as being male or female. For instance woman are supposedly independent, gullible and moody, while guys are self-reliant, assertive, and ambitious. This is rediculous because we're in the 21st century where woman are equally as ambitious as men and some men are intimedated by our strengths . We're being pressured into taking on roles that society has branded us with. Why is that? Why can't we be ourselfs without being analyzed and criticed? It seems like no matter what a person do they're always going to be put in some type of category. It's enevitable and sadly, that's life.

All of a suden

All of a sudden i saw sociology when I chilling with my two nieces. My one year old niece at first seem shy and timid. she didn't want to talk to my four year old niece. The one year old began to cry whenever my other niece made an attempt to hold her. As our day went by my one year old niece opened up to my other niece. very soon they began playing together. I noticed that my one year old niece mimic everything the four year old do. My four year old niece was telling me how she could dougie, which is a dance that's familiar to everybody. I put the song on and my four year old was dougging and I noticed my one year old niece try doing the same thing. It was so cute. I immediately thought on how kids are quick to copy everything they see or hear. This is kind of scary in a way because I would have to watch everything I say and do around her and both of them. I want to be a good role model for my both of my niece.

Barefooted in Wal-Mart

All of a sudden I thought about sociology when I was walking around Wal-Mart with socks on. Yup, I had no shoes on. Some people that's reading this might say ewww gross. Your reaction is sociologically called ethnocentrism, which is judging another culture based on your belief. I was assigned to break a folkway, a type of norm that lack moral behavior. Anywho, as i was strolling through Wal-Mart I couldn't help but noticed all these random eyes glued to my feet. My initial reaction was man, this is uncomfortable. After awhile I felt at ease. After all, I'm not hurting anyone, however, I was doing something socially unacceptable. On the contrary, outsiders from other parts of the world looking in on my behavior would find this totally normal. In other words, walking barefooted or with socks on is not breaking any social norms. The main idea is when you notice something thats wacky or out of place, just be open minded that we are all different. 

America today

Our flag represents a strong advanced country. When people wear red white and blue they're usually being patriotic.

  American culture today has become so entrenched with the media. Whether we've noticed it or, the media has influenced our lives.
